What is investment and partnership?

At CWMAC, we define effective investment and partnership as the strategic collaboration between WMAs, investors, and stakeholders to drive sustainable conservation and economic growth while ensuring local communities benefit equitably.

It fosters sustainability by attracting investments that align with conservation objectives, ensuring that natural resources are managed responsibly for long-term ecological and economic gains. It is one that prioritizes inclusivity by engaging WMAs, communities, and private sector partners in co-developing opportunities that strengthen governance, enhance livelihoods, and promote shared prosperity.

Investment Opportunites In WMAs

WMAs in Tanzania offer diverse and sustainable investment opportunities that align with conservation and community development goals. These areas provide a unique chance for investors to contribute to wildlife conservation while generating economic returns through ventures

Eco-tourism and hospitality by constructing lodges, camps, and wildlife safari operations that attract global travelers seeking immersive natural experiences.

Carbon credits and biodiversity offsets by engaging in carbon projects that support climate change mitigation while delivering financial returns.

Wildlife-based enterprises through investing in regulated trophy hunting, wildlife photography tourism, and other ethical wildlife-related ventures.

Sustainable agriculture and agroforestry by establishing eco-friendly farming or agroforestry initiatives that integrate conservation and community benefits.

Renewable energy projects in the form of solar or wind energy developments that contribute to sustainable infrastructure in WMAs.

Why is this important to the work we do?

By attracting responsible investments, WMAs gain the financial and technical capacity to enhance biodiversity protection, improve infrastructure, and generate economic opportunities for local communities.

By 2028, we aim to support revenue generation and diversification in 70% of WMAs, business development support to at least 25 WMAs to increase revenues by at least 30% and strengthen collaboration between 37 WMAs and other NGO and private sector partners to leverage more resources, expertise, and networks.
