The Community Wildlife Management Areas Consortium (CWMAC), through the EU KUWA project, continues to engage local communities to gather their perspectives on the performance of Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and strengthen both governance and community benefits.
From September, our team visited villages across five WMAs: Enduimet, Makame, Randilen, Mbomipa, and Waga, listening to the voices of residents whose livelihoods and daily lives are intertwined with these landscapes. Farmers, pastoralists, artisans, and community leaders shared their experiences, challenges, and aspirations, providing invaluable insights into how WMAs impact communities on the ground.
Each perspective we collect is a step toward building stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable WMAs. By placing community voices at the center, CWMAC ensures that conservation delivers real benefits, empowers local people, and fosters governance that truly serves both people and nature.
