In 2024, CWMAC expanded its international presence by participating in Climate Week in New York, African Wildlife Consultative Forum in South Africa and SADC TFCA Annual Networking Meeting in Botswana. These events provided platforms to share insights, build strategic collaborations, and position CWMAC as a leader in community-driven conservation and climate action. “The discussions and partnerships formed at these meetings have been eye-opening, helping us align with the global conservation landscape,” said Mohamed Kamuna, CEO of CWMAC.

At Climate Week, CWMAC highlighted its innovative community-led wildlife management programs, showcasing the vital role of local communities in global conservation efforts. The meetings in South Africa and Botswana focused on shared challenges in sustainable development, biodiversity protection, and climate resilience. “These exchanges provided valuable lessons and opened doors for impactful collaborations, including joint research projects and funding opportunities,” said Andrew Mariki, CWMAC’s Programme Manager.

These events provided CWMAC with valuable opportunities to engage with global experts, exchange knowledge, and form new collaborations that will enhance its conservation efforts in Tanzania. We envision that these international exchanges will contribute directly to CWMAC’s ongoing efforts to implement best practices in Tanzania’s WMAs, while also positioning the organization as a key player in the broader conservation movement.
