ABOUT
The Community Wildlife Management Area Consortium of Tanzania is the national umbrella organization for all Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Authorized Associations. Established in 2010, the consortium brings together WMAs from across Tanzania to share knowledge and resources and advocates for policies that support community-led conservation efforts. Through collaboration and partnerships with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and other stakeholders, the consortium strives to create a more equitable and sustainable future for people and wildlife in Tanzania.

Mission
We strive to empower and assist Authorized Associations (local communities) in effectively managing Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) to ensure the rights and well-being of local communities while maximizing benefits.
Vision
We envision a future where Wildlife Management Area communities thrive economically, environmentally, and socially, and conservation efforts are sustainable.
Organization Goal
Our goal is to enhance social and financial sustainability and successful program implementation towards the sustainable conservation of WMAs.

Monitoring, Information & Learning: CWMAC monitors project performance, gathers information, and serves as a hub for WMA data to influence planning, decision-making, and advocacy.
Enterprises & Community Development: CWMAC supports sustainable community development through wildlife-based and non-wildlife-based enterprises, including tourism, carbon trade, and beekeeping, among others.

We operate in 21 WMAs across Tanzania. We have five operational zones based on the geographical location of our members.
Northern Zone
